What is this all about? Having worked in customer service jobs of one kind or another since 1989, I have heard many stories that are just too funny or too bizarre to keep to myself. For some reason, call centers, technical support help desks and the like are the perfect breeding ground for craziness. People call up and leave their brains on hold. They say things to phone representatives I am sure they would never say to anyone else.

There is a certain mythology surrounding these stories. Many are published online. I am sure many are apocryphal or anecdotal and I know for sure some of them have become urban legends. However, all the stories you read here are essentially factual even if the names and places have been changed to protect the innocent (or insane!)

In addition to archiving the insanity of the Call Center, The Emelano Experience is about the overall customer-service experience in what has increasingly become a service-oriented society. This site will  attempt to bring to your attention companies whose service levels shame them as well serving up generous amounts of kudos when it’s due.
